 FINISHING THE WALL

Stepping the Wall

When the wall is stepped, half  units and caps may be used to smooth the transition. To create half units, first remove the anchor bar and the spacer bar on the bottom of the unit,  then split unit in half. When the wall is turned into an  embankment or stepped into the grade, care must be taken  to provide an adequate base for the wall (see Embankment Installations).

Finishing with Caps

  1. Place caps centered between the two units shown below.  The cap can have setback, have no setback, or the cap  can be moved forward 1" to 2" to give the wall a ledge look.
  2. . To create a permanent connection of the caps to the  wall units, use a construction adhesive. Apply the adhesive  to the top surface on the units below the cap and place the  cap units into position.
  3. The type of cap available may vary depending upon  your location. Consult with your distributor or installer  for specific cap design and installation instruction.
  4. Cap installation should be discussed between owner  and installer.
