a. Face: front of unit
b. Anchor Bar: extension on the bottom of the unit
which interlocks behind the two units below and extends into the
geogrid (if geogrid is used)
c. Straightface: the face of this unit is straight-- it is
not angled
d. Beveled face: the face of this unit is angled at the
outer edge
e. Splitface: the type of surface on both straightface
and beveled face units
f. Spacer Bar: an extension on the bottom rear of the
unit which helps to stabilize units in shipment and which extends
into fill or the geogrid (if geogrid is used).
g. Tails: rear horizontal extensions of the unit which
anchor into the fill
h. Splitting Grooves: indentations on the back side of the
units where chipping may be done (for installation purposes)
i. Unit Height: the height of the unit measured at
the face
j. Unit Width: the width of the unit measured at the
face
k. Unit Depth: the distance from the face of the unit
to the rear of the unit compacted soil beneath the ROCKWOOD units
Foundation Soil or Base: compacted soil beneath the ROCKWOOD
units
Leveling Pad: a smooth flat surface upon which the
base leveling pad material is placed
Base Leveling Pad Material: granular material as shown on
the construction drawings, with a sieve size and percent passing
as follows:

Unit Fill: material used for fill within the retaining
wall is crushed stone or coarse gravel (3/8" to 3/4")
