- For each course requiring geogrid, lay the geogrid horizontally
on reinforced fill and on top of the previous course of units.
- After the geogrid is in place, install the next course of
units.
- Pull the geogrid taut as approved by the construction engineer.
Geogrid shall be laid at the proper elevation and orientation
as shown on the construction drawings or as directed by
the construction engineer.
- Geogrid shall be laid at the proper elevation and orientation
as shown on the construction drawings or as directed by the
construction engineer.
- Correct orientation (roll direction) of the geogrid must
be accomplished and its orientation should be verified by
the construction engineer.
- Follow the manufacturer's guidelines relative to overlap
requirements of uniaxial and biaxial geogrids.
- Operate only hand-operated compaction equipment within
three feet of the wall face.
- Place the reinforced fill near the wall first - then outward
to insure that the geogrid remains taut from the wall outward.
- Backfill material should be placed in 6" lifts and
then compacted to 95% proctor.
- Do not operate tracked construction equipment directly
on the geogrid. A minimum backfill thickness of 6" is
required prior to operation of tracked vehicles over the geogrid.
The turning of tracked vehicles should be kept to a minimum.
- Equipment, with rubber tires, may pass over the geogrid
reinforcement at slow speeds, less than 10 mph.
