Fences,
railings and guard rails may be installed at the top of a ROCKWOOD
retaining wall. The position for setting posts for fences and railings
is determined by the type of unit used in wall construction.
- For Classic 6" and Classic 8" walls, the posts are set directly
behind the unit and are anchored with concrete fill. A steel
sleeve may be used that will accept a post.
- Guard rails may also be installed along the top of a ROCKWOOD
retaining wall. Posts should be a minimum of 36 inches behind
the wall and anchored in the reinforced soil area. If geogrid
is used in wall construction, holes will need to be cut in the
geogrid to allow for adequate post hole depth. The design for
fences, railings and guard rails will be done by a qualified
project engineer and these design plans must be followed for
the proper installation of fences, railings and guard rails.
